Yacht charter licence and insurance checks before payment

Use this evidence-led checklist to connect the contracting party, named vessel, passenger limit and insurance record before paying for an Antalya yacht charter.

This guide is a practical request list, not legal advice and not a certification service. The official regulation, implementation communiqué and Antalya circular describe a public framework for marine tourism activity, documents and insurance. Their presence online does not prove that MY FREEDOM, any selected partner vessel, its owner or the party taking your payment currently holds a particular licence, policy or approval. Only current evidence tied to the actual booking can address that question, and the relevant authority or a qualified adviser should resolve any legal doubt.

Start with the contracting party. Ask for the full legal or commercial name that will appear on the offer, invoice or receipt, its contact details, and its role in relation to the named vessel. A social-media account, trading label or attractive gallery may identify a marketer without identifying the entity responsible for the booking. Make the same name appear consistently in the quotation, written terms, payment instructions and payment record. If an agent is collecting money for another operator, ask both relationships to be stated before transferring funds.

Next, connect every vessel document to the boat offered for your date. Request the vessel's written name and enough identifying detail to match it with the registration, operating, seaworthiness or other relevant evidence supplied for review. Check the document holder, vessel reference, validity date and any limits visible on the record; do not accept a document for a sister boat, an undated screenshot or a generic statement about a fleet. The official sources explain categories and application materials, but they do not perform this booking-specific match for you.

Treat passenger numbers as a document question, not a marketing estimate. Ask which current document governs the proposed operation and what passenger limit applies to the named vessel and programme. Count every person in the booking, including children, when comparing the group with the written offer. The published MY FREEDOM product is one private group totalling 1–12 guests, children included, but that commercial boundary is not proof of a statutory capacity or current certificate. Never infer another boat's limit from MY FREEDOM, a photograph or a broad rule summary.

For insurance, request evidence that identifies the insured party or vessel, insurer, relevant policy or certificate reference, and period of validity. Ask what scope is relevant to passengers, crew and third-party liability, and direct detailed coverage questions to the insurer or a qualified adviser. A requirement to hold insurance does not mean every event, injury, lost item, delay or payment dispute is covered. Insurance is neither an absolute safety guarantee nor a promise that every possible loss will be reimbursed, so avoid treating a policy image as a substitute for clear booking terms.

Keep the evidence check aligned with the real MY FREEDOM offer. MY FREEDOM operates only from Kundu through two fixed programmes, 09:30–15:00 and 15:00–20:30, for one private group of 1–12 guests in total, including children. Return hotel transfer within Kundu is included; pickup or return outside Kundu is separately priced. An optional service exists only when it is written into the confirmation. Before payment, have the vessel, departure area, boarding details, programme, operational route, price, inclusions, cancellation and weather terms recorded together.

A request for a different route or duration, special equipment, a west-coast operation, an overnight stay or more than 12 guests is outside the standard MY FREEDOM product. It requires a selected partner vessel identified by name and a separate written quotation. Repeat the full licence, passenger-limit, insurance and contracting-party check for that vessel; evidence relating to MY FREEDOM cannot be carried across by assumption. Do not accept “partner boat” as sufficient identification, and do not presume its departure point, equipment, route, capacity, transfer scope or terms match another offer.

Before sending payment, assemble one dated written record: contracting party, named vessel, applicable passenger limit and supporting document reference, insurance evidence, total guest count, departure area, exact boarding arrangement, fixed programme or separately quoted duration, proposed operational route, total price, included and excluded services, and the cancellation and weather-change terms. Confirm the account or payment recipient and retain the offer, terms and receipt. Missing or inconsistent details are reasons to pause and ask, not to invent an answer. This checklist supports an informed purchase; it does not certify compliance or replace professional advice.

Common questions

How are the vessel and programme confirmed?

Before payment, the written quote names the vessel, departure marina, boarding and return times, and proposed route.

What is included in the price?

Nothing is assumed for a bespoke request or partner vessel. The written quote lists meals, drinks, fuel, harbour costs, transfers and any extra charges.

Can the route change?

Yes. The captain confirms a safe plan for the actual sea, weather and harbour instructions, and may change the route or stops when needed.

How is guest capacity confirmed?

Capacity is confirmed for the selected vessel in the written quote; larger groups may require a different vessel.
