Yacht charter in Olympos
a wooded Lycian valley meeting the Mediterranean shore
- Why guests choose itA forested archaeological valley opening onto the Mediterranean coast.
About Olympos
Olympos extends through a wooded valley behind the coast, with rock-cut tombs, building remains and later Roman and Byzantine layers along the watercourse. MY FREEDOM’s fixed programmes operate only from Kundu, and Olympos is not one of those routes. An Olympos request uses a selected partner vessel. Before booking or payment, a separate written offer must confirm the vessel, actual departure and boarding point, schedule, route, price and inclusions; any visit to the ruins or shore access remains subject to current site rules and conditions.
Getting there
Olympos lies where a wooded valley reaches the Mediterranean beside the archaeological landscape. A sea approach can reveal the relationship between coast, river mouth and ruins, but it does not establish a fixed sailing plan or guarantee shore access. MY FREEDOM’s fixed programmes depart only from Kundu, and Olympos is not one of those routes. An Olympos request therefore uses a selected partner vessel. Before booking or payment, a separate written offer must identify the vessel, actual departure and boarding point, schedule, route, price and inclusions. The forecast, current site rules and the partner captain’s safety judgement still govern what can operate on the day.
The water
Water beside Olympos is influenced by an exposed coastline and the meeting of the valley stream with the sea. Clarity, movement and a suitable swimming area can therefore differ from one visit to another. Guests should enter the water only where the captain identifies a safe stop that day. Footwear, archaeological access and any approach to shore should also follow the current local guidance rather than assumptions made from photographs.
Through the season
Olympos can be considered in different seasons, yet no month guarantees a particular sea state, crowd level or swimming experience. Daylight, recent weather and local restrictions may shape the plan as much as the calendar. Before booking, ask which departure and vessel are proposed, how the captain handles a changed forecast, and whether the archaeological area is expected to be accessible under the rules applying on the selected date.
What you are looking at
Olympos was an important Lycian city whose remains extend through the valley behind the coast. A secure historical reference point is 78 BC, when Roman forces under Publius Servilius Vatia Isauricus took Olympos during the campaign against Zenicetes. Later Roman and Byzantine layers are also visible across the site. Interpretive signs and official archaeological information should guide a visit, because individual structures have changed as excavation and conservation continue.
Worth knowing
Treat the boat programme and the archaeological visit as two connected but separate planning questions. Confirm the departure point, vessel, intended coastal route, swimming arrangements and possible shore access before payment. On the day, follow the captain's decision if wind or swell requires another stop. For a land visit, use suitable walking shoes, carry water, respect marked paths and check current opening or ticket information through official channels.

Common questions
How are the vessel and programme confirmed?
Before payment, the written quote names the vessel, departure marina, boarding and return times, and proposed route.
What is included in the price?
Nothing is assumed for a bespoke request or partner vessel. The written quote lists meals, drinks, fuel, harbour costs, transfers and any extra charges.
Can the route change?
Yes. The captain confirms a safe plan for the actual sea, weather and harbour instructions, and may change the route or stops when needed.
How is guest capacity confirmed?
Capacity is confirmed for the selected vessel in the written quote; larger groups may require a different vessel.
