Avoiding seasickness on a day charter
Most of it is route and timing, not tablets.
- The short answerMorning departure, sheltered bays, low and central, eyes on the horizon.
A private charter on this coast spends most of the day at anchor rather than under way, and that alone removes the majority of the problem: a boat sitting in a sheltered bay barely moves. The discomfort comes from passages, and passages are what a captain can plan around.
Book the morning if you have a choice. The water is flattest between seven and noon, before the meltemi builds, and the sheltered bays hold their calm even later. Booking in May, June or October rather than August helps for the same reason, because the afternoon wind is weaker at the edges of the season.
On board, sit low and towards the middle of the boat where movement is least, stay on deck rather than below, and look at the horizon rather than at a phone. Eat something plain before you leave: an empty stomach is worse than a full one. Cold water and fresh air do more than most remedies.
If somebody in the party is genuinely prone to it, say so when you book. The captain will pick sheltered anchorages, keep the passages short and go to the lee side of the coast rather than crossing open water, and none of that costs anything or shortens the day.

Ways to charter
Common questions
How long does it take to reach Antalya?
About 3 h of sailing from the departure marina, which is why boarding is early and the return is timed for the last of the light.
Is lunch included on a Charters?
A full Mediterranean lunch is prepared aboard by the chef, with soft drinks, water, tea and Turkish coffee included. Wine and spirits are charged separately or you are welcome to bring your own.
Can we swim at every stop?
At almost all of them. The exception is directly over protected ruins, where swimming is restricted by law, so the swim stop moves to the bay alongside.
What happens if the weather changes?
The captain reroutes to the sheltered side of the coast, which on this coastline almost always works. If a day genuinely cannot sail, you are refunded in full.
How many guests can come?
From two up to twelve, depending on the yacht. Larger parties are handled by taking two boats out together on the same route.
