Yacht charter in Simena
an inhabited coastal settlement where ancient Simena and present-day Kaleköy share the same slope
- Why guests choose itApproaching a lived-in hillside where harbour remains, tombs and the castle belong to one continuous place.
About Simena
Ancient Simena is known today as Kaleköy, between Kaş and Demre. Official records describe a small Lycian coastal city with a surviving castle, theatre, cisterns, tombs and shoreline remains. A yacht visit is arranged through a selected partner vessel, with landing and every other inclusion confirmed in writing.
Getting there
Simena and Kaleköy refer to the ancient city and present settlement on the same coastal slope. The official source notes its unusual maritime access, but that does not make every private request automatic. This is not a fixed MY FREEDOM route from Kundu. A selected partner vessel is proposed for the date, and boarding, schedule, route, price, landing arrangements and inclusions are confirmed in writing.
The water
Official descriptions record a Lycian sarcophagus, breakwater and building remains at the shoreline, with further ancient traces partly in the water. They can form a meaningful view from the coast or vessel, but no specific visibility or access is guaranteed. A passage past Simena, a landing at Kaleköy and a swim stop are separate itinerary choices and must each be stated in the written partner proposal.
Through the season
A Simena request is not tied to an advertised best month, fixed water temperature or guaranteed level of visitor traffic. The practical experience depends on the requested date, partner-vessel availability, operating conditions and any applicable site arrangements. We ask the partner to build a workable proposal and review it close to departure. The written route identifies realistic alternatives without promising that every element always operates unchanged.
What you are looking at
The Antalya cultural authority identifies Simena as a small Lycian coastal city, now called Kaleköy, occupied from the fourth century BCE onward. Its castle remains the clearest landmark. Within and below it are a rock-cut theatre, cisterns, rock tombs and traces of buildings used across different periods. Along the shore, a Lycian-type sarcophagus and other harbour remains connect the settlement directly with the water.
Worth knowing
If a land visit matters, ask for it by name rather than requesting only a Kekova cruise. The route to the castle follows a steep path with ancient steps, so guests should consider footwear and mobility before booking. Confirm landing, guide, site access, time ashore, meals and return point in the quote. A slow pass by the waterfront is not the same service as visiting Kaleköy on foot.

Common questions
How are the vessel and programme confirmed?
Before payment, the written quote names the vessel, departure marina, boarding and return times, and proposed route.
What is included in the price?
Nothing is assumed for a bespoke request or partner vessel. The written quote lists meals, drinks, fuel, harbour costs, transfers and any extra charges.
Can the route change?
Yes. The captain confirms a safe plan for the actual sea, weather and harbour instructions, and may change the route or stops when needed.
How is guest capacity confirmed?
Capacity is confirmed for the selected vessel in the written quote; larger groups may require a different vessel.
